 How are pallies?

I was thinking they would be more of a PvM class but a 70 pally takes more dmg against Monsters & Players compared to a warrior in equal gear and stats(even added 1 point into wisdom for 20 wisdom to get the extra % out of shield skill that gives buff bonus). Also HP steal on a paladin isn't as good as a warriors. I'm guessing maybe because a warrior does alot more dmg with there spin than paladins do?

well its because of the diminishing return on strength

both paladin and warriors hp steal were just fine before diminishing return

problem is u cant get high enough strength bonus for the hp steal to really kick in

so you have to stack hp steal on so many items now

armor, helm weapon etc

warrior will always be better than paladins for 1 single reason.

Fierce Warrior is overpowered. Compare it to Inner str.

Fierce Warrior:
4 Points gets you:

Bonus 12% damage
Bonus 16% resist magic
Bonus 16% armor

for 6 Minutes (5 minute cool down)

**each point increases the %damage/resists/armor and not the time

Inner Strength:
4 Points gets you:

Bonus 10%armor
Bonus 5% damage

for 24 seconds (4 minute cool down)

**each point increases the seconds not the damage/resist %

also im not sure if ej gave the 2 handed bonus spin range and damage to paladins with 2 handed weapons as like when he gave it to barbs then warriors when they were the 2hand+shield class.
Other than that they are pretty fun.

They don’t seem too bad. They what the usual job of tanking melee. I’d bump their skill to a bit. But that’s it

Nothing wrong with pallis, specially vs warriors
O Cam fight any Melle in game and win most and that's with a volc shield

Well i'm not really concerned about PvP to be honest with you. I don't think paladin should be an over whelming class in PvP but it would be reasonable to think that a paladin would do well against PvM and this is just not the case.

I'm not saying they are horrible, I'm sure they do fine in PvP. My concerns lay with PvM, why are Warriors the only class that can hunt and PvP?

pvpwise pallys are rather fine they completely oblitirate other melees while being rather weak against mages

pvewise they would be just fine if ej removed diminishing return


Diminishing return was a PURE MELEE NERF

diminishing returns did not affect casters whatsoever which was something i stated even before he put out the patch

when he mentioned doing a diminishing return on stats

i simply said its only gonna be a melee nerf in disguise



the issue is melees cant get enough strength to bolster their HP steal to the point where they can steal back
the damage they take from monsters


before diminishing returns paladins, warriors needed around 91 strength
to hunt comfortably(hp steal wise). With the diminishing return its impossible to even hit 81 strength bonus




Bottomline diminishing returns is why melees feel so weak huntingwise(darkwar, ranger excluded)
