Yeah. Blizzard's tens of millions of dollars invested, continuing successful expansion packs, minimum ~500,000 subscribers in the lulls, totally speak to a game that is "meh".
their tailoring it to the major population aka softies....
im a hardcore gamer i never said i was a mainstream gamer
most of world of warcrafts players are softies nowdays
because most of the hardcore players quit or started playing private servers...
The Elysium WoW Legacy Server had its first important stress test on Sunday to see how the server responded to the demand of players wanting to experience the original World of Warcraft. The response was overwhelming. With more than 20,000 new accounts created, and at one time the server hosted 7,500 concurrent players, legacy World of Warcraft proved to be overwhelmingly popular.
id hardly... it is clear that it is in demand
but yes the hardcore gamers are a minority among players
blizzard and most mmorpg targets the Majority to get the games to sell well etc
but that doesnt change the fact that games made for majority
rarily satisfies hardcore players who like a challange
and dont want everything handed to them on a silver platter
and to regarding expansions... they have lost subscribers bigtime after Cataclysm expansion the expansion when they started dumbing things down for the masses...
they steadily gained subscribers all the way untill Wrath of the lich king. after release of Cataclysm... cataclysm hit their subscribers aswell
i mean seriously if u dont have to work hard for something it aint worth nothing why do u think people played xenimus
they did because if they got something it was through hard work and dedication mixed with luck
as for my own personal list of favorit expansions it would be...
1 TBC, Wotlk
2 empty
3 Legion
4 mists of pandaria
5 warlords of Draenor
6 Cataclysm
